To make it easy to hold, the shape is designed to be widest slightly closer to the nib than the center.

The sanding process uses grits from coarse to 600. This creates a moderate sheen while allowing you to feel the natural texture of the wood.

The surface is cut repeatedly, checking to ensure there are no irregularities.

The finish uses Kinu Oil. The main ingredient is derived from rice, is tasteless and odorless, and is gentle on the skin.

Also known as: Ziricote
A hardwood of the family Burseraceae, characterized by a wavy, fine, ink-wash painting-like mottled pattern.
The pattern is very similar to black persimmon, and it is said to have come to be called "Siamese (Thailand) persimmon" even though it is not a persimmon tree.
